PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES The Cloud Infrastructure Delivery organization enables SAP to become THE enterprise cloud company by providing cloud infrastructure and operational support for services SAP is providing using Cloud-Models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) on a global scale. For our Cloud Platform Services unit within Infrastructure Services we are looking for additional support of our team. Cloud Platform Services is responsible for providing highly scalable and secure / compliant cloud infrastructure and automation services (leveraging technologies such as VMware, OpenStack, Chef, support for various Operating Systems and required management tools/processes) to all lines of business across SAP, from development to production. In order to drive efficiency and speed we strive for a high degree of automation in the area of setup, configuration, maintenance and operation of various infrastructure. Your responsibility will be to design, develop and maintain a script set to automate all kinds of tasks which fall under IT Infrastructure operations. This begins with the setup of new landscapes where servers (mainly Hypervisors) as well as infrastructure management tools (e.g. OpenStack, Monitoring Tools, …), over reporting and maintenance, all needs to be automated. Once this is achieved we would like to drive the topic of automation even further on technologies like self-healing, full consumer self-services, SDx or aaS etc. While we are running SAP’s cloud platforms, we are as well chartered to continuously drive their evolution of SAPs cloud stack by incorporating technology innovation, simplification as well as consolidation of the various solutions available at SAP and new ones coming in by Mergers & Acquisitions on a technical level as well as from a service perspective. EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS Work as part of a virtual team and drive topics from an automation point of view Cross collaboration in IT/with other operation teams to understand operational processes and gaps in order to automate these Deep understanding of infrastructure operation topics for IaaS in order to identify opportunities and automate them Work in an agile, DevOps oriented team with building, prioritizing, maintaining and closing backlog items Developing scripts that allow us to reduce setup & maintenance times to minutes or hours instead of days or weeks Provide an high level of transparency about the infrastructure status for operations, management and customers Mentor junior colleagues and working students, select suitable work packages and help them to close Documentation of & training in created tools to operational colleagues EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Required skills High knowledge in automation, virtualization and infrastructure Experience working in large-scale datacenter/cloud/network environments University degree or similar education in Software Engineering or Computer Science Strong record in automation and scripting technologies Track record in technologies like OpenStack, KVM, libvirt, VMware vSphere, XEN, Linux and Windows Programming background in infrastructure automation with perl, python, chef, ruby, shell, Powershell or related Knowledge and experience in Web Development and Database Administration, including API’s, REST, etc. Strong communication, presentation and analytical skills Ability to work in a distributed, global organization of highly motivated and qualified individuals High ambition, drive for and focus on results and execution, solution oriented working style Ability to structure topics, multi-task and work under tight deadlines Strong networking skills at all levels, including written and verbal English Team player in a global, virtual setup Preferred skills Infrastructure operations in large scale SAP environments Project Management skills and experience (SCRUM, DevOps or other agile methods) In-depth technical and business expertise with regards to virtual infrastructure including various Storage & Network technologies to support SAP’s Cloud offerings Knowledge of ITIL V3 will be highly beneficial WORK EXPERIENCE 5 years professional experience, out of which minimum 2 years in similar position SAP’S DIVERSITY COMMITMENT To harness the power of innovation, SAP invests in the development of its diverse employees.
